Tim Winton’s The Turning marks it’s space; September bow announced

This week, it’s San Diego that’ll be playing host to most things ‘turning’ – don’t think about it for too long, you’ll realize how demented my gags are – but on September 26, 2013, it’s Australia’s turn.

”Tim Winton’s The Turning” has been given an official release date of September 26, 2013, Madman films announced today.

Nothing to do with a Wachowski brother, the home-grown flick is actually based on Tim Winton’s literary effort and serves as a collaboration between some of the country’s most talented filmmakers, actors, and shady “Matrix” agents. Among those in front of the camera : her Royal highness Cate Blanchett, David Wenham (formerly of Pearl Bay), Richard Roxburgh (yep, the poor guy did survive “Van Helsing”!) and Callan Mulvey, so good in another of Madman’s releases “Save Your Legs!”. The film’s swanky premiere will be held at the Melbourne International Film Festival, ahead of the aforesaid general release.

The Turning is a unique cinema event. Seventeen talented Australian directors from diverse artistic disciplines each create a chapter of the hauntingly beautiful novel by multi award-winning author Tim Winton. The linking and overlapping stories explore the extraordinary turning points in ordinary people’s lives in a stunning portrait of a small coastal community. As characters face second thoughts and regret, relationships irretrievably alter, resolves are made or broken, and lives change direction forever. This watershed film reinterprets and re-imagines the work for the screen.
