Tom Hanks to play Captain ‘Sully’ Sullenberger

Tom Hanks is in talks to play Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in a Clint Eastwood directed film about the true-life heroism dubbed Miracle on the Hudson, says THR.

Warner Bros is housing the project, which is being produced by Eastwood. Amongst the producers, veteran “Bourne Identity” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark” producer Frank Marshall.

In 2009, Sullenberg made headlines when both engines were knocked out of his airplane by geese and he was forced to land on the Hudson river. The plan worked, and all 155 people on board were saved.

Hanks, who at 58 is the same age as Sullenberger was when he made the heroic landing, was both Eastwood and WB’s first choice for the role.
