A number of new additions to Paramount and Skydance’s “Top Gun : Maverick”, starting with “Unreal” alum Monica Barbaro, who is on board to play Miles Teller’s love interest in the Joseph Kosinski-directed sequel.
Barbaro, who was one of several actresses that tested with Teller last week before the studio finally made the decision over the weekend, will – like Teller’s character, the son of ‘Goose’ – be a pilot.
Meantime, Thomasin McKenzie (”Jojo Rabbit”), Charles Parnell (”A Million Little Pieces”), Jay Ellis (”Insecure”), Bashir Salahuddin (”GLOW”), and Danny Ramirez (”Assassination Nation”) have joined the cast alongside Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly and the aforesaid Teller.
McKenzie plays the daughter of Connelly’s character, Ellis is a pilot, and Salahuddin plays an engineer.
Filming on the sequel is currently taking place on the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln — as well as Carrier Air Wing Seven.
