Trailer : Emily Moss Wilson’s Inheritance

After a Decade-Long Journey, the Female-Led, Written, and Produced Film “Inheritance” Debuts on the Big Screen.

June 5th, 2024. INHERITANCE, the indie directorial debut by Emily Moss Wilson (DRINK, Christmas in Tune, Rescuing Christmas) will have its world premiere at Dances With Films. Written by Rachel Noll James (Ingress, Don’t Pass Me By, The Storyteller), the female-driven drama stars Austin Highsmith Garces (Dolphin Tale 1 & 2, Scream: The TV Series, Criminal Minds) and Noll James, who deliver powerhouse performances as the two sisters at the heart of the story. Sienna Beckman and Noll James of Emergence Films, Highsmith Garces, and Moss Wilson produce.

INHERITANCE will be opening the feature competition at Dances With Films on Friday June 21 at 7:15pm at the TCL Chinese 6 Theater. The director, cast and crew will be present for a Q&A. For more information click here.

INHERITANCE follows the emotionally charged journey of two estranged sisters who reunite after the death of their father, uncovering buried family secrets and finding unexpected paths to forgiveness. The ensemble cast includes veteran actresses Michelle Hurd and Cynthia Geary, along with Wes Brown, Chris Mulkey, and Brian McNamara in supporting roles.
Moss Wilson, Noll James, and Highsmith Garces spent 10 years bringing INHERITANCE to life, facing near-insurmountable challenges, including the largest industry work stoppage in over 60 years. Just weeks before production was set to begin on Bainbridge Island WA, the team secured an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA, allowing the film to proceed.
“The strikes really put the spotlight on indie film and its importance to our industry,” said the director Emily Moss Wilson.

“The timing of this production turned out to be a blessing, as it attracted a stellar supporting cast that enhanced the film’s depth and impact,” added writer and actress Rachel Noll James.
“The film is a true testament to the power of women supporting women, perseverance, and the independent film spirit,” concluded actress Austin Highsmith Garces.

It is the second narrative feature from Emergence Films, a female-focused US and UK-based production company co-founded by Rachel Noll James and Sienna Beckman.
