A new trailer has been released for director Phillip Noyce’s sci-fi drama “The Giver”.
An adaptation of Lois Lowry’s YA novel, the film is set in a futuristic, dystopian world where maintaining order is the government’s highest priority – not unlike that of “Divergent”.
The trailer gives us a sneak peak at Meryl Streep in her powerful role as the Chief Elder, as she rules a society from whom emotion and colour have been stripped. Challenging the rigid customs of his society, Jonah (Brenton Thwaites) meets the Giver (Jeff Bridges). The Giver holds knowledge about the way the world used to be and passes this knowledge onto Jonah, who uses it to rebel against the uniform ways of the world in which he is living.
Starring beside Streep, Bridges and Thwaites are Katie Holmes, Taylor Swift and Alexander Skarsgard.
