Travolta and Cage in talks for Face/Off 2!

That “Face/Off” remake turned sequel?

It’ll feature mother-hoppin’ Castor Troy and Sean Archer! – – better known to Nicolas Cage and John Travolta, respectively, to the Hollywood Foreign Press.

That golden nugget was dropped by director Adam Wingard (“Godzilla vs. Kong”) in an interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, who revealed that both Cage and Travolta have been approached about reprising their roles from the 1997 film for the sequel. Both have reportedly read the outline, and gave it the thumbs up, but they’ve yet to see the script – which Wingard and Simon Barrett are about to hand over to Paramount.

“Some people just assume when I say that that it just means it takes place in the world of Face/Off,” Wingard revealed to Fred Topel. “To me, Face/Off isn’t about a procedure or anything like that. It’s not about the world that the characters exist in. It’s about Sean Archer and it’s about Castor Troy. That’s what this movie is about. It’s the continuation of that story. It’s hard to talk about other than that but this is, to me, the definitive continuation of that saga.”

The actors like where the project is going — but there’s one more hurdle to jump, warns Wingard.

“They’ve read our outline. Everybody’s on board with it but actually turning in the script’s a different thing so we’ll see how everybody reacts to it.”
