Trek making First Contact with Australia?

The Enterprise might be docking Down Under.

According to TrekWeb, the next "Star Trek" film, a prequel to the events of TV’s "Enterprise", might be setting up shop in Australia.

The Premier of South Australia has apparently been in talks with Paramount about lending their fair state to Starfleet.

"Mr Rann had been with Paramount Pictures executives at a dinner in Adelaide the day before our convention," Stuart Blair, President of the United Federation of Planets Fan Club of South Australia told Star Trek Magazine.

Another attendee of the convention had some extra bits to share, including when the next film would be set.

"2010 to be exact. A time when the Earth has been almost destroyed by nuclear war, when our saviours from the future arrive", she says. "The story is to be set over two movies. As to who will star nothing was said, but it was inferred that Spock was a must. But if they are bringing help from the future it leaves it open to star any and all of the STAR TREK casts from all the shows."

"Star Trek XI" scribe Erik Jendresen recently told SyFy Portal that the film would take place before the days of Captain James T.Kirk.

"We’re going [roughly 80] years before Kirk. It’s an earlier time, and I think it would be really refreshing to feel something in the course of telling this tale, instead of being wowed by special effects, or presenting another crew in jeopardy where, in the end, the captain does something brilliant and all’s right with the world".

Aint it Cool also ran a bit recently indicating that the character of Data (Brent Spiner) from TV’s "Next Generation" might be involved somehow.

Said Spiner, "Nemesis was supposed to be our maiden voyage, but who can leave such a great franchise that easily. We’re all going to do another one, only this time they’re going to mix it up a bit – possibly giving Data a commanding role to play; and bringing in some of the folks from enterprise and some of the other great spin offs".

Bit of a jigsaw puzzle at the moment, but one thing’s for sure – "Trek 11" is coming.
