TV cancellations : Murphy Brown, Lethal Weapon & more

As the upfronts quickly approached, networks pink-slipped a number of series today. The most high-profile, and somewhat surprising cancellations, were CBS’s “Murphy Brown” reboot and FOX’s “Lethal Weapon”.

Also gone, the Damon Wayans Jr comedy “Happy Together”, “The Fix” over at ABC, Marvel offering “The Gifted”, “The Cool Kids”, “I Feel Bad” from EP Amy Poehler, “Speechless” starring Minnie Driver, “Trial and Error”, “Life in Pieces”, and Lee Daniels’ “Star”, which ran three years.

Ratings were the main issue with the Candice Bergen-fronted “Murphy Brown”, which failed to garner an audience when it returned to the air last year. FOX’s “Lethal Weapon” was chopped largely because of Damon Wayans’ reluctance to return for another season, as well as the continuous hits the show has suffered since it hit the air three years ago.

CBS renewals include Bull, Hawaii Five-0
