Wayne Brady and Charlie Murphy are attached to star in a remake of the classic, “Dolemite”. Jeff Hause and David Hines are writing the screenplay.
– Universal Pictures has set “The Last King of Scotland” helmer Kevin Macdonald to direct “State of Play,” the Americanized version of the acclaimed British miniseries that will star Brad Pitt.
– Pathe, one of the financiers of “The Queen,” has teamed with BBC Films to develop a script about Margaret Thatcher, focusing on the 17 days before the Falklands War in 1982.
– Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have ruled out a third season of cult British comedy hit “Extras.” Instead, they’ll do a ‘one-off’ special.
– Hong Kong’s Celestial Pictures is producing a remake of Chang Cheh’s “Vengeance” to be directed by Corey Yuen (“DOA”).
– Australian actor Alex O’Loughlin (“The Oyster Farmer”) and Columbus Short have joined “Whiteout” for Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment. The film stars Kate Beckinsale. O’Loughlin will play a cocky pilot whose hard-partying antics get him into hot water with the marshal. Short will play a wet-behind-the-ears pilot who becomes the marshal’s ally during the investigation.
– Chuck Roven (“Batman Begins”) will produce the long-planned “A Monk in New York”, starring Jet Li. The film tells of a Tibetan monk’s journey to Gotham and the calamities that befall him as he’s faced with Western civilization.

Cinematical reports that Jake Gyllenhaal will not be playing “Shazam”.
– Scott Adkins (“Undisputed II”) has joined the cast of the new Jean Claude Van Damme vehicle, “The Shepherd”.
– Kathleen LaGue (“Razortooth”) and Fernanda Romero (“Pit Fighter”) have joined the cast of “The Eye” remake, starring Jessica Alba.
– Diamond Dallas Page, Patrick Bergin and Kevin Howarth have joined Welsey Snipes in “Gallowwalker”, filming in August.
– Adam Beach will star in “The Neglected”, a thriller about a killer who returns to the house of his killing spree – ready to terrorise the new family living there. Paul Walker will produce.

Online reports quote Sean Connery as saying he’d never return as 007, but he would consider – for a price – playing James Bond’s father in a film.

– Steven Seagal says he would like to star in an “Under Siege 3” – there is a script out for it, and it ain’t half bad – as long as the original gang return too. I assume he’s not just referring to Erika Eleniak (who has expressed interest) but director Andrew Davis, too.
– A new clip from “Pirates of the Caribbean 3” is up.
Monkey Peaches has the synopsis of the new Jet Li/Jackie Chan movie “Kings of Kung Fu” up, saying, “[It] tells a New York boy named Jason walks into an antique shop in China Town a d touches a cudgel he is not supposed to touch. He is brought back to the ancient China, where he meets a kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan), the Golden Swallow (a girl) and the Silent Monk (Jet Li). They have to work together to defeat Yu Jiang Warrior to rescue the Monkey King.”
– Muse Watson (“Prison Break”, “Between the Sand and the Sky”, “I Know What You Did Last Summer”) will star in “The Steamroom”, a light hearted comedy about four men from different walks of life who happen to attend the same gym.
SneakPeek.CA says “Starship Troopers : Marauder” will film in CapeTown in May.
