Soul-selling, Slumming it and Stepping right up…. Lots of casting and filmmaker announcements over the last couple of days, and a couple of doozie rumours too, here’s an amalgamation of some…


WILLIAM HURT is in talks to play the U.S President in “Vantage Point”, about an assassination attempt on the political leader.

ALAN ALDA, has joined the cast of “Resurrecting the Champ”, the story of a reporter and a could-be former boxer who develop a bond.

JOSH BROLIN will star in the new Coen Brothers’ movie “No Country for Old Men”, based on the Cormac McCarthy novel.

BEN McKENZIE, from TV’s “The OC”, is not in “Snakes on a Plane” – despite internet rumours to the contrary.

French filmmaker ERIC VALETTE is set to direct the English-language remake of Japanese supernatural horror hit “One Missed Call”. Warner Bros will distribute.

According to a report at Superhero Hype, the villain of “The Hulk 2” will be Abominable, the Hulk-like fiend who was formerly a Yugoslav spy. ERIC BANA is expected to reprise his role as the green-machine in the sequel.

In an interview with Newsday, ROBIN WILLIAMS says “Mrs Doubtfire 2” is off. “No, not happening. The script they had just didn’t work.” Apparently said script involved Williams’, as Mrs Doubtfire, moving close to his daughter’s college, so he can keep an eye on her.

According to TV Guide, FOX mightn’t be finished with TV’s “Seventh Heaven” at all. Though it isn’t stated, that long-rumoured spin-off, or some other incarnation of the show, which stars CATHERINE HICKS might be on the cards.

In an interview with CHUD, MERCEDES McNAB says plans for a “Spike” movie – a spin-off of “Buffy” and “Angel” – are essentially off. “There was talk for a long time about a Spike movie of the week, but that went out the window. I think Joss has probably moved on with Serenity and what not. It was a chapter in his life, and everybody else’s, and it’s time that it was closed.”

According to Gossip Monkey, JULIA ROBERTS might be returning for “Oceans Thirteen” after all. Apparently she’s currently in talks to turn up in the film – if even briefly.

BEN KINGSLEY, LUKE WILSON and TEA LEONI will star in the new film from JOHN DAHL, “You Kill Me”, about a hitman that gets a job in mortuary. The film shoots later this month in Winnipeg.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER will star in “Vacancy”, a Screen Gems thriller about a couple who check into a motel and, unaware there’s a hidden camera, become the subjects of a snuff film. She plays the wife.

EVAN RACHEL WOOD has been cast opposite Michael Douglas, playing her eccentric father, in the movie “The King of California”.

Actress VANESSA TOMASINO, of “Edison” and “Crazy Late”, will play Laura in the spook-sequel “White Noise 2: The Light”, starring Nathan Fillion.

LUKAS HAAS, BALTHAZAR GETTY and JAIME KING will star in director David Arquette’s “The Tripper”, now filming in Los Angeles.

Actor THOMAS UMER TEVANA is rumoured to have won a role in “Charlie Wilson’s War”, starring opposite Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.

According to Fangoria, KANE HODDER, REGGIE BANNISTER and BILL MOSELEY have joined the cast of the new horror film, “Fallen Angels”, from director Jeff Thomas.

ERIK BRUSKOTTER, of “Can’t Buy Me Love” fame, has joined the cast of the direct-to-video sequel, “Bring it On : All or Nothing”.

Martial-arts actor GARY DANIELS (“Fist of the North Star”, “Submerged”) will make his comeback in “Immortally Yours”, a new horror film from director Joe Tarnatore. The film tells of the leader of a vampire gang who falls in love with a beautiful mortal, whose father is the head of an organization that’s researching immortality. Daniel Goddard and Costas Mandylor co-star.
