Vin Diesel to work scale on Riddick!?

Vin Diesel’s been trumping his “Riddick” movie – second sequel to the low-budget fright-flick “Pitch Black” – for a while now. But that’s what Vin does best. Trump.

But is the flick, unlike say “Hannibal the Conequeror” and “xXx 3”, actually inching towards the starting line?

According to a post on the big guy’s facebook page, yes – if he’s prepared to go without a few mercedes this year.

GRRRR..

D T the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch… in order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the “Find me Guilty” experience (which I wouldn’t have changed for the world)…

Money is always second to art, integrity and spirit… but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place… called Riddick.

DT is, of course, writer/director David Twohy who, I’m guessing, would also be working pretty cheap on the film. Seems strange that Diesel would be required to work scale after the enormous success of “Fast Five”, but maybe they’re a little bit wary of this particular franchise since the last “Riddick” didn’t exactly set hairpieces on fire.
