Walter Cronkite, Johnny Cochran, Tonya Harding biopic updates!

Steven Spielberg, Matt Charman and Marc Platt, the team behind the Oscar nominated “Bridge of Spies”, are reuniting for a biopic on Walter Cronkite – in particular the famous newscaster’s relationship with the Vietnam War and the role he played in turning public opinion against the increasingly un-winnable conflict. Charman still needs to write the script, so it’s early days. (Deadline)

Justin Chadwick (“Mandela : The Long Walk to Freedom”) will direct Anthony Mackie (“Captain America : Civil War”) in an untitled movie chronicling the Signal Hill police brutality case in 1981 that has Anthony Mackie playing attorney Johnnie Cochran. The Signal Hill case is the case that made Cochran’s career. (Deadline)

Craig Gillespie (“Lars and the Real Girl”) will direct Margot Robbie in the recently announced Tonya Harding biopic. The Steve Rogers written picture – titled “I, Tonya” at this stage – will shine a light on what happened between Harding and competitor Nancy Kerrigan at the 1994 Olympics. (Variety)
