Webmasters hit Comic-Con

A Chance to meet everyone… but me

If you can get to Comic-Con this year, do, they’re re-introducing the ‘Webmaster’ Panel…. That’s your chance to put faces to the names of your friendly website Eds!

Yep, a chance for you to yell out ‘sell out’, ‘whore’ or ‘I’ll kill your family for that Saw 3 review, buddy!’

First things first, I won’t be there. Sorry. I’ve had about a hundred emails asking if I will be… and I’m not. I was asked to participate in the panel and as much as I would’ve loved to, the fact of the matter is my baby is due around the same week. I had to get my priorities in order…. Granted, it involved actually cashing in a plane ticket and cancelling a keg party, but eventually, I was set straight. So you’ll have to wait to next year to yell out ‘fuck you for criticising Russell Crowe!’ and ‘Clint, I have fifty movie ideas… first is Dukes of Hazzard vs. Batman ….” (I do wonder whether he actually goes to comic-con… I guess if someone’s arrested out front with a tommy gun and ‘I love the Mailbag’ shirt on, we know who it is).

So you’ll have to do without me – though I don’t know how Garth’s going to cope without someone throwing back sexual innuendo at him. He’ll just have to, I suppose (and keep a close eye on your lightsaber this year buddy, you know what these San Diego Comic-Conners are like). And Robert’s going to have to drink twice as much…. He’ll be toasting to me every 40 seconds or so.

Here are the details of the Panel that MY BABY IS PREVENTING ME FROM GOING TO:

1:00-2:30 Masters of the Web—Hosted by Tom DeSanto (Transformers, X-Men), the biggest genre and movie websites are coming together to talk about how new media has affected movie making today, what it takes to run a popular site and much more in this panel discussion and Q&A session. Participating panelists include Robert Sanchez (IESB.net); Garth Franklin (Darkhorizons.com); Berge Garabedian (Joblo.com); Patrick Lee (Scifi.com); Ed Douglas (Comingsoon.net/Superherohype.com); Brad Miska (Bloody-Disgusting.com); Steven Weintraub (Collider.com); Devin Faraci (CHUD.com); Drew McWeeney (Aintitcool.com); Paul Christensen (Movieweb.com); Kellvin Chavez (Latinoreview.com); and Eric Moro (IGN.com). Room 6A

I’ll leave my Spider-Man undies in the top drawer and my Strawberry Shortcake T-Shirt pressed for next year.

P.S – What’s funny is that the panel is on Sunday. Last year, I believe Stax (from IGN) and myself were the only ones still around on the Sunday, most of the other guys had either gone home or were still laying on the front lawn of the hotel next door. This should be interesting. A good idea might be to serve beer at the panel. HMM… makes me wanna go even more. Spare a thought for me… changing nappies… whilst you guys drink and talk about Kristen Bell’s boobies, ok?
