John Cena is in negotiations to star as video game hero Duke Nukem in a new film adaptation from producer Michael Bay.
The long-running game franchise fixes on a cigar-puffing, sunglasses-wearing hero who fights aliens.
No director or writer is onboard at this stage.
Bay will produce via his Platinum Dunes shingle.
Over the years a number of fellow action heroes, including Dwayne Johnson and Dolph Lundgren, have been rumoured for the lead in a “Duke Nukem” movie- none of those film incarnations came to fruition.
