William Atherton back on the big screen!

Seminal ’80s movie character actor William Atherton (“Ghostbusters”, “Die Hard”) will return to the silver screen in…. “Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie”!

What!? You thought I was going to say “Ghostbusters 3”?

Heh, silly peeps.

The “Tim and Eric” flick is the creation of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, the brains behind the Cartoon Networks’ “Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job.” And no, I haven’t seen it – – any good?

Atherton, most recently seen (albeit briefly) on TVs “Lost”, is one of many familiar faces that are due to appear in the film. Jeff Goldblum, Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Robert Loggia (!) and Will Forte are also onboard.

Heidecker and Wareheim’s first feature film, which has distribution through Magnolia Pictures, commenced principal photography last Friday (shooting a scene that apparently involved a “wet” Zach Galifianakis).

The film will be produced by Gary Sanchez Productions and Funny or Die (hence the Will Ferrell cameo).

The movie is about the comedians’ characters, Tim and Eric, who, Wareheim tells TheWrap, “literally get a billion dollars to make a movie, and we make it, and things go awry, and Tim and I just decide to get out of Hollywood and become businessmen in an abandoned mall.

Heidecker interrupted: “Semi-abandoned mall,” he said. “About 10 percent occupancy.”

They hired Atherton. I like these guys already.
