WWE and Warner team for new Flintstones movie

WWE Studios are uniting with Bedrock to produce an animated “Flintstones” feature that will see Fred and Barney mixing it up with some of today’s most recognized stars of the ring (well, everyone but ‘The Rock’; he’s one of the few wrestlers cum film stars who can afford to knock back paychecks), says Variety.

The WWE/Warner Bros production will feature the voices of CM Punk, John Cena and Chairman Vince McMahon, among others, as fictional characters participating in a Bedrock wrestling match.

The studios also teamed up recently to produce a DTV ‘Scooby Doo’ film that was set at Wrestlemania. It hits shelves in March 2014.

“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane was set to reboot TVs “The Flintstones” for Fox Television at one stage but that idea seems to have been put on ice – along with MacFarlane’s Oscar hosting plans for next year (Thankfully).

No word on whether the new “Flintstones” film will go direct-to-DVD – like the aforesaid “Scooby Doo” film – as yet; a decision mightn’t be made until it’s been tested with audiences.
