X-Men adds a young Nightcrawler

Even if Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine doesn’t return, Bryan Singer’s next “X-Men” flick will still get a jab from the Oz syringe.

Australia’s Kodi Smit-McpHee (“Let Me In”) has joined the cast of “X-Men : Apocalypse”. The young actor takes on the role of Nightcrawler, the scaly-climber chap Alan Cumming brought to the screen in “X-Men 2” a few years back.

Smit-McPhee, whose other credits include “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “The Road”, isn’t the only thesp having to reprise someone else’s part – many of the parts in “Apocalypse” are younger incarnations of the main “X” troop.

Excited to welcome @kodismitmcphee to the cast of #XmenApocalypse as young #Nightcrawler. @alexvaughanphoto
