X-Men scribes board Power Rangers movie

“X-Men: First Class” writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have landed themselves a new project, this time writing for a new band of crime fighting heroes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Miller and Stentz are set to pen the script for Lionsgate and Saban Brands’ “Power Rangers”.
Roberto Orci, who co-wrote “The Transformers” and “Star Trek” films, has come on board as executive producer and will also help develop the film’s story with Miller and Stentz.
“Power Ranges” began as a ‘90s TV series, titled “The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, that followed a group of high school students who had to harness their unique powers as a team in order to save the world.
A film titled “The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie” was released in 1995.
Creator of the franchise Haim Saban will produce with Saban Brands’ head of development and production Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur.
Miller and Stentz have no shortage of experience writing screenplays for action films. The pair also penned the script for Marvel’s “Thor” and are working on Gerard Butler disaster pic “Geostorm”. In addition, Orci brings his own superhero action experience to the table having worked on “The Amazing Spider Man 2”, “Mission Impossible III” and “Cowboys and Aliens”.
