Jackman offers Carousel update

It’s been three years since the trades first mentioned Hugh Jackman’s involvement in a remake of the movie musical “Carousel”.

This week, whilst chatting up “X-Men Origins : Wolverine”, the always-amiable actor told us he’s still looking to get the film up.

Jackman says he “we finally have a first draft for. We’ve been working on for three years” and hopes to do it within the next twelve months.

The original, which Jackman says is “the greatest musical ever written” will likely go to Fox.
“We’re still waiting to set it up, but hopefully [it’ll be at Fox]. It’s looking good, so, that’s good”.

“Carousel” was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, and was an adaptation of Ferenc Molnar’s 1909 play Liliom, transplanting the Budapest setting of Molnar’s play to a New England fishing village.
