Father of the Bride vet attracts all-star cast to Netflix rom-com

Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday) returns to the director’s chair

Netflix are looking to bring celebrated rom-com helmer Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday to the director’s chair with a new untitled comedy – though rumoured to be titled Paris Paramount– for the streamer.

Meyers, who hasn’t helmed a film since 2015 (that was The Intern with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro), is said to have already attracted a starry cast for the project, including Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson and Michael Fassbender.

Meyers (who also wrote Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, among others) will write, direct and produce the comedy, which sources say “centers on a talented young writer-director who falls in love with a producer, with the pair making several successful films before calling it quits romantically and professionally. The two are forced back together, however, when a great new project arises, and they find themselves teamed up again and having to deal with high stakes and volatile stars.”

The project, said to be budgeted at around $130-150 million (!), first showed signs of life in 2022 with Jennifer Lawrence then circling.
