Spider-Man Musical Loses Another Cast Member

You have to wonder how much more trouble this musical has to go through and how many more actors have to get hurt until the lightbulb goes off for Julie Taymor to pull the plug on this. It seems that just about each week, there’s a new story detailing the troubles of “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.”

This week, actress Natalie Mendoza, who plays Arachne,  has left the show.

The New York Times reports that representatives for Mendoza, lawyers and producers of the show “have been hammering out an exit agreement for days” and “fine-tuning the language” to explain the actress’ departure. An official announcement is expected later today.

The actress had suffered a concussion during the first preview performance on November 28 while offstage, when a rope holding a piece of equipment swung into her. She continued with the show despite a doctor’s recommendation, with her last performance coming on December 20.

This is just the latest blow after an aerial stuntman working on the show fell several feet into one of the stage pits. Since the accident on December 20th, the stuntman has slowly begun recovering and beginning to walk.
