I’m under embargo so can’t discuss “Gangster Squad”, but I believe it’s alright to say I look forward in anticipation to whatever scribe Will Beal does next.
The man, a former copper, is down with detail and ostensibly oozing with enthusiasm, and it comes through in his exciting, snazzy writing.
Somewhere on the WB lot Beal’s currently holed up working on the screenplay for big-time superhero group-effort “Justice League”. What we know, so far, about the flick is that it’s gonna cost a shit-load of money to put together, probably not star Christian Bale, and might see the super friends take on the villainous Darkseid.
Now, thanks to Latino Review, some more insight into what could be hiding within the pages of Beal’s screenplay. The site says the film’s storyline will be based on parts of Justice League America issues 183-185.
In a nutshell, plotwise, the three issue arc involves Darkseid planning the destruction of Earth by blasting it with a ray that’ll move Apokolips (Darkseid’s planet) into the Earth’s place.
Yes, it’s a rumour, but Kelvin and the troops at Latino Review have a solid record – especially when it comes to breaking scoops of a comic book movie variety – so I’d think there might be something to this.
“Justice League”, due 2015, will feature Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Aquaman as they put aside their differences to become somewhat of the Gangster Squad of a brightly-lit comic book city.
