Pearce irons out Mission : Impossible 5 deal

Drew Pearce has escalated from Iron Man to Abseiling Man.

The “Iron Man 3” scribe has agreed to put pen to paper on another franchisey flick, “Mission : Impossible 5”, says THR. The up-and-comer replaces Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec, who penned the last two installments of the Tom Cruise headlined series.

The fourth sequel to 1996’s “Mission : Impossible” will again – despite early suggestions Jeremy Renner’s character from “Ghost Protocol” would take over from hereon out – see Tom Cruise playing fearless IMF agent Ethan Hunt. Cruise also retains his producing position on the flick.

The shoot will likely get underway, and under the direction of “Jack Reacher” helmer Christopher McQuarrie (who has long been touted for the job – by Cruise), in the Fall.
