McConaughey in Spider-Man reboot?

Is Matthew McConaughey about to pull a Willy Dafoe?

Scuttlebutt suggests the Oscar Winning star of “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Interstellar” might strike up a blew with Spider-Man in the near future. According to The Hashtag Show, McConaughey is Marvel and Sony’s top pick to play rich rogue Norman Osborn – the character Dafoe played in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” movies – in the looming “Spider-Man” reboot. The deal would likely encompass several movies, over which McConaughey would slowly transition Osborn into his famous alter-ego The Green Goblin.

While you should still take this with a grain of salt, bear these things in mind : The Hashtag Show, though still relatively unknown, has had some scoops confirmed in the past, so their reputation is good, and more importantly, McConaughey has mentioned in recent weeks that he’s met with studio brass about participating in a comic book movie – and if the right one came along, he stresses he wouldn’t hesitate about doing it. So, there’s a chance this is all on the money.

Should McConaughey get the gig, he’ll likely end up sharing the screen with young actor Asa Butterfield, the current frontrunner for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The other question is, when might we get our first glimpse of the new Osborn? Will it be in the “Spider-Man” reboot, or will it be alongside the new Spidey in next year’s “Captain America : Civil War”?
