A Supergirl spin-off?

You’ve probably read elsewhere by now that TVs “Smallville” is introducing Supergirl onto the show next season.

Well, TV Guide is now reporting that the network is secretly hoping to launch the tighted wonder girl into her own spin-off once her Smallville drop by has been accomplished.

“…You didn’t hear this from me — the hope is that Supergirl will eventually be spun off into her own CW show. But again, you didn’t hear that from me”, writes Michael Ausiello.

The CW tells us that the seventh season of “Smallville” kicks off with the arrival of Supergirl, whose name is Kara, as Clark’s (Tom Welling) 19-year-old cousin. She was born on Krypton and is the daughter of Zor-El, Jor-El’s brother. Kara possesses all of Clark’s powers and one he doesn’t yet have ?? she can fly! Kara also has a strong, rebellious streak that puts her at odds with Clark, and puts her onto Lex’s (Michael Rosenbaum) radar. In addition, she takes a romantic interest in Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore).

Meantime, the site also reports that former TV Superman, Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark”), will finally turn up in “Smallville” this year.
