Penn to star in Stone’s Pinkville?

Based on the Lai massacre during Vietnam

Oliver Stone is eyeing a return to the battlefields.

According to Latino Review, the “Platoon” and “Born on the Fourth of July” helmer is attached to direct “Pinkville” about the “My Lai massacre during the Vetnam War. The My Lai Massacre, was the massacre of hundreds of unarmed Vietnamese civilians, mostly women and children, by U.S. soldiers on March 16, 1968, in the hamlet of My Lai, during the Vietnam War. It prompted widespread outrage around the world and reduced American support at home for the war in Vietnam”, says the site.

Sean Penn – no stranger to War films having headlined Brian De Palma’s “Casualties of War” a few years back – and Channing Tatum (“Step Up”) are attached to star.

UA and Paramount are said to be interested in nabbing the film.
