Alec Baldwin drops out of yet another major film, Rock of Ages

Well, this is a bit of a bummer. ”30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin has, according to THR, dropped out of Adam Shankman’s musical production of ”Rock of Ages”.

Back in March, Shankman confirmed Baldwin’s role by tweeting: “Based on info I got today,” Shankman said on Twitter, “I’m gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock Of Ages. Hollah.” But sources say Baldwin has now decided not to do the film.

Baldwin’s character Dennis would have been the owner of the Bourbon Room, the Sunset Boulevard nightclub at the center of the movie.

This is the second major movie Baldwin has dropped in 2011; he was also onboard “Men in Black III” before departing for… whatever reason.

”Rock of Ages” centers on two people who meet at the Sunset Strip club Rock of Ages, fall in love and try to stay together amid ’80s rock anthems.

So far, the cast includes Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough, and newcomer Diego Boneta.
