An American for male lead in Jungle Book : Origins

TV fave Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”) is in talks to play the lead human role in Warner’s “Jungle Book : Origins”, says Deadline.

One of two new “Jungle Book” movies in the works, this one will be helmed by Andy Serkis and is said to be grittier than the Jon Favreau/Disney version that’s currently before the cameras.

Rhys would play John Lockwood in the Callie Kloves written film. Already assigned voice roles are impressive A-listers such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett.

Currently winning raves for his role on FX’s “The Americans”, Rhys next appears in the feature “Adam Jones” opposite Bradley Cooper.
