Aronofsky quit Wolverine for Hobgoblin?

When I first read about this, I thought Aronofsky would be doing something Spider-Man related and well…he’s not. Way to disappoint a girl news wire.

Famed director Darren Aronofsky is heading to the small screen ….for the first time. The ”Black Swan” director is boarding HBO’s high-profile ”Hobgoblin”, a period drama written by Michael Chabon (”The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay”) and his wife, Ayelet Waldman.

The project revolves around a group of con men and magicians who, using their deception skills, help defeat Hitler and the Germans during World War II.

If I had HBO, I’d totally want to see this but alas, I don’t so I’ll be missing out.

”Hobgoblin” will be Aronofsky’s first filmed project since he left Fox’s ”Wolverine” sequel. That project was to be his follow-up to ”Black Swan”, which grossed $332 million worldwide, but he exited ”Wolverine” in March.
