Charlie Day for Del Toro’s Pacific Rim

Charlie Day sure is on a roll lately. The actor but his teeth on the TV comedy series ”It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, moved onto juicy supporting parts in the likes of “Going the Distance” and next co-stars in bigtime studio tentpole laffer “Horrible Bosses”; after that, might he join “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnan in “Pacific Rim”?

Hunnan was already tapped to star in the flick back in May, with Guillermo Del Toro directing.

As for Day, Variety reports that the husky-voiced funnyman will play a professor.

The film is a science fiction treatment by Travis Beacham which sees a future Earth defending itself from attacking creatures. Filming is scheduled to begin in September for a release date in summer 2013.
