Speaking at Wizard World this weekend, “Captain America : Civil War” directors Joe & Anthony Russo touched on their plans for – yep, Marvel are keeping them on retainer – the two-part “Avengers” movies they’re prepping.
According to the filmmakers, who first teamed with Marvel on the critically and commercially successful “Captain America : The Winter Soldier”, “Avengers : Infinity War Part 1” and “Avengers : Infinity War Part 2” could likely feature over 60 Marvel characters!
“People will not be disappointed in the amount of characters in the movie”, ComicBook.com quote Joe as saying. “The concept of Infinity War is that the Marvel universe unites to battle the greatest threat to the world and universe that you’ve ever seen, and we’re going to honor that concept… We have so many characters we’re dealing with… we have a board with 67 characters on it. ”
Suggesting we might see some characters step-up, as well as some we haven’t yet seen on the big screen, Joe said a big focus of their work at the moment is deciding who should get their ‘A’ arc.
“I want to see some storytelling from some of the secondary characters. We’re focusing on that right now with Infinity War while we’re breaking into those movies, is which characters can we pull to the forefront who potentially haven’t had their own ‘A’ story arc to this point. I think you’ll see that the supporting Avengers are going to become primary Avengers.”
“Avengers: Infinity War Part 1” is scheduled for May 4th 2018.
