Baking Bacon in the Jungle

Kevin Bacon looks to reunite with Oz director Greg Mclean – who directed the rebellious small-town dancer in the upcoming “6 Miranda Drive” – for the forthcoming “Jungle”.

Based on the memoir by Yossi Ghinsberg, and adapted for the screen by fellow Austopian Justin Monjo (”The Untold Story Of INXS”), it tells of a man who heads into the Jungle with a “sketchy guide” (I don’t think that means he’s a talented artist) and two pals.

Screen Australia and Screen Queensland are backing the venture, which is GPSing locations in Australia and Columbia as possible filming locales.

Among the film’s producers, the amazing Dana Lustig (“A Thousand Kisses Deep”). Signed photo in the mail, darl?

Deadline says :

Ghinsberg was an enthusiastic adventurer who headed into the Amazon jungle with two friends and a guide with a mysterious past. Their journey turned into a terrifying psychological ordeal and fight for survival as the darkest elements of human nature and the wilderness tested their endurance. Bacon would play the Austrian guide Karl.

Bacon, who’ll shoot the flick after the third season of “The Following”, will slip into the slippers of a character described as “complex, dangerous and alluring” by Mclean. In other words, he’s reprising Ren from “Footloose”.
