Water’s wet for #Catfight

“Vampire Academy” didn’t kill Mark Water’s directing career after all.

While the franchise flounders, Waters bounces back – signing on to direct “#Catfight” (yes, so hip having a hashtag in a title – so much so they’re destined to lose it before it gets released) for his Olive Bridge Entertainment banner.

Per Deadline, Amelie Gillette (the best a man can get)’s script fixes on “Lucy, an insecure high school girl with a single mom who earns a scholarship to an elite private high school for her senior year and attempts to reinvent herself by hiding a past she wants to put behind her. On the day of her recruitment interview with her dream college, she finds out the boy she is dating has a psychotic ex-girlfriend. She has just come back from juvie that morning to challenge the college-bound girl to a fight after school. She tries to get her college admissions work behind her and keep up the prep school facade, before this showdown. Maybe she also can take down this maniacal rival and score one for bullied kids everywhere.”

Clearly Waters has returned to what works – in this case, his now 10-year-old hit “Mean Girls”. Thing sounds like it’s a colour facsimile.
