Batman injured; Goodbye cancelled

Fox has cancelled Christian Bale starrer “Deep Blue Goodbye”, after the actor sustained a knee injury.

The actor tore his ACL just before his shoot for Paramount’s financial drama ”The Big Short”. While he is able to carry on with the latter, the more physically-demanding “Deep Blue Goodbye” has had to be nixed.

The film would have featured Bale as a freewheeling ex-soldier living on a house boat and acting as a self-proclaimed “salvage consultant”. Peter Dinklage and Nicola Peltz co-star.

James Mangold, who directed Bale in “3:10 to Yuma”, was to have helmed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, some sources say the movie will go on while others say the project is dead. If it goes in, it will likely be without Bale – who has a pretty full plate into the future.

Sources tell the trade that the producers tried to salvage the project by quickly finding a replacement – with an offer going out to Brad Pitt – but they couldn’t find a proxy in time.
