Ben Stiller to Direct The Mountain

Deadline is reporting that Ben Stiller is set to direct “The Mountain” for 20th Century Fox with his old “Reality Bites” writer Helen Childress. The project is a horror story based on characters from Summer, the novel by Edith Wharton. Set in the early 1900s,  “The Mountain” revolves around a young woman who struggles to confront her destiny after stumbling upon a mysterious object that forces her to examine the secrets of her past.

“The Mountain” is said to also be described as a sophisticated version of “Rosemary’s Baby”. At the same time, Stiller and Childress are also developing an adaptation of the children’s book The Snowy Day under his Fox deal.

Meanwhile, Stiller continues to work on the remake of the 1947 film “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty“.
