Big Bang Theory prequel in the works!

A spin-off of “the Big Bang Theory” is in development at CBS, with ”Big Bang” co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre, executive producer/showrunner Steve Molaro and actor Jim Parsons producing.

“Sheldon” will fix on the younger years of Parson’s character, one of the main fixtures of the hit sitcom.
Deadline says the prequel is described as a “Malcolm in the Middle-esque single-camera family comedy” and is considered a “shoo-in” for a series pickup next season.

No word on whether Laurie Metcalf, who plays Sheldon’s devout Evangelical Christian mother, will be back for the new show.

“The Big Bang Theory” is currently in it’s tenth season and still manages to pull in an average 18.15 million viewers in it’s most recent-ratings and reguarly draws more than 14 million live viewers.
