Billy Crudup wins over 20th Century Women

Billy Crudup (“The Stanford Prison Experiment”, “Almost Famous”) has nabbed the male lead role in “20th Century Women”, the Mike Mills’ written-directed drama fronted by Annette Bening, Greta Gerwig and Elle Fanning.

Crudup, next in “Spotlight”, will play a boarder shacking up with a single mother and her teenage son.

Says Deadline, who have the scoop :

The pic is set in 1979 and follows a single mother named Dorothea (Bening) as she struggles to raise her troubled teenage son. Crudup plays one of her boarders. He rents the bungalow out behind the main house. A former hippie who now seems like a bit of slacker, with no real direction in life, he’s the hunky handyman type — a skilled mechanic, carpenter, plumber and electrician — but he’s got a sweet side. That makes him appealing to Dorothea and the other ladies.
