Alcon Entertainment’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 classic “Blade Runner” will be released by Warner Bros on January 12, 2018.
Denis Villeneuve directs the film from Hampton Fancher and Michael Green’s script based on a story by Fancher and Ridley Scott.
The shoot will begin in July.
Set to star Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford (reprising his role as Rick Deckard), the story will pick up several decades after the events of the original movie.
Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will produce with Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Bud Yorkin will receive producer credit.
Ridley Scott, Frank Giustra, Tim Gamble and Bill Carraro will exec produce.
Paramount’s animated film “Sherlock Gnomes”, the sequel to 2011’s “Gnomeo & Juliet”, is the only other film slated for that date.
