Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro reunite on Honeymoon

Bradley Cooper is looking to make his directorial debut on “Honeymoon with Harry”, a dramedy that would also reunite him and “Silver Linings Playbook” co-star Robert De Niro in front of the camera.

The project, one of several projects Cooper has been considering for his directorial debut, was once set up as a vehicle for Vince Vaughan and Jack Nicholson, with Paul Haggis onboard to direct.

The New Line project, being redrafted by “Crazy, Stupid Love” writer Dan Fogelman, would again feature De Niro and Cooper as father and son.

According to Deadline, “Cooper has long been intrigued with playing a formerly self-centered womanizing booze-hound who changed his ways when he met a girl and fell in love. He’s loathed by the girl’s dad, who recognizes himself in the young man. They get engaged anyway. When she dies tragically just before their wedding, the devastated groom heads off on their honeymoon to drown his sorrows and drink himself to death. Who does he meet but his almost father-in-law, who has come to spread his daughter’s ashes on her favorite beach.”

According to the trade, “Honeymoon with Harry” is akin to one of James L.Brooks’ films – a drama with small bursts of comedy, like “Terms of Endearment” and “Broadcast News”.
