Brett Ratner producing Goldfinch feature

Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “The Goldfinch” is set to receive the Hollywood treatment.

Warner Bros. and RatPac Entertainment have landed the rights to the book which follows the life of a 13-year-old boy who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Surviving the blast, the boy steals the Carel Fabritius painting the Goldfinch and gets taken in by an Upper East Side family. Eventually he reunites with his father, an alcoholic gambling addict who takes him to Las Vegas.

Brett Ratner of RatPac will produce with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson through their Color Force shingle. James Packer of RatPac will exec produce.
