Following the news that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” had been axed by Fox, NBC has stepped in to save the day and picked up the popular cop comedy. They’ve signed it on for a 13-episode 6th season.
The NBC originally bid for the rights to the show back in 2012 when it debuted, so obviously the show has continued to impress.
“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”
Created by the “Parks and Recreation” duo of Dan Goor and Michael Schur, who are former college roommates, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” follows Peralta, played by “Saturday Night Live” alum Samberg, a screwball who happens to be a real good cop.
The show scored two Golden Globes in its first season, so no doubt there will be a lot of fans excited by the news that it will continue for a sixth go.
