Cage escapes tax evasion claims

Skips on “The Untouchables” prequel

As discussed in today’s Caffeinated Clint, Nicolas Cage has opted not to play Al Capone in “The Untouchables” prequel after all.

The “Ghost Rider” star is citing a scheduling conflict, says Variety.

Gerard Butler (“300”) is set for the part of Jimmy Malone, played by Sean Connery in the original. Cage would have played the young Capone.

Interestingly enough, Cage doesn’t have anything lined up after his current movie “National Treasure 2”, so this ‘scheduling conflict’ excuse sounds a bit suss.

Sean Penn was once mooted for the Capone role in the prequel. Maybe they’ll go back to him?
