Casting: Black Panther, Livingston, Robb, Nashville, Monster

Forest Whitaker has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther”, from director Ryan Coogler.

Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba have also joined the cast which includes Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, ruler of Wakanda, and Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, plus Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia and Danai Gurira as Okoye, members of the fierce Dora Milaje.

Whitaker will play the role of Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda.

Kasumba will reprise her “Captain America: Civil War” role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. Kaluuya will play T’Challa confidant W’Kabi, and Duke will appear as M’Baku, leader of a rival tribe in Wakanda.

“Black Panther” will be in theaters on February 16, 2018.

 

 

Ron Livingston has joined Charlize Theron and Mackenzie Davis in Jason Reitman’s “Tully”.

Diablo Cody penned the script about Drew Moreau (Livingston), Theron’s character’s husband and father to their three kids. When Drew gets busy with work, his brother-in-law convinces Marlo (Theron) to hire a night nanny, which immediately changes the family dynamic (via Variety).

 

 

AnnaSophia Robb will star in Lionsgate’s supernatural drama “Down a Dark Hall”, from director Rodrigo Cortes.

Isabelle Fuhrman co-stars in the film which will be produced by “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer and “Twilight” producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, with Adrian Guerra of Nostromo Pictures.

Based on Lois Duncan’s 1974 novel, the film follows a new student at a boarding school who confronts the darkly seductive powers of the headmistress and comes face to face with the supernatural abilities that could make her all-powerful or destroy her.

 

 

Bridgit Mendler has nabbed a recurring role on the fifth season of “Nashville”.

Mendler will play Ashley Wilkenson, a sexy, talented internet sensation with 30 million views who is about to record her first album.

 

 

Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Jennifer Hudson will star in indie drama “Monster”, from director Anthony Mandler.

Jennifer Ehle, A$AP Rocky, Nas, Tim Blake Nelson, John David Washington and Jeffrey Wright are also in the cast.

Colen C. Wiley and Janece Shaffer wrote the script based on the novel by Walter Dean Myers about a 17-year-old honors student (Harrison) and aspiring filmmaker Steve Harmon, charged with felony murder for a crime he says he did not commit. The film follows his journey from a smart, likeable young man from Harlem attending an elite high school through a complex legal battle that could leave him spending the rest of his life in prison.
