Former “Friday Night Lights” star Kyle Chandler is joining Leonardo Di Caprio and Jonah Hill in the new Martin Scorsese film. “DiCaprio plays Belfort, who experiences a dramatic rise on Wall Street, and gets lost in the drugs and other excess of a hard partying lifestyle that comes hand in hand with all that money. His downfall is precipitous, and he spent 22 months in jail before straightening out his life. Chandler will play FBI agent Coleman, who built the case against Belfort and took him down. Hill plays Belfort’s close friend and business partner who’s persuaded by Belfort to quit his job in the furniture business to jump into volatile world of stocks.” (Deadline)

“Melrose Place” and “Taken” star Katie Cassidy is doing a “mind-being thriller” about Suki (Cassidy), a young woman confronting her destructive mental illness using “The Siamese Burn”, an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. The closer Suki comes to being “cured”, she’s haunted by a thought… what if the last unwanted identity turns out to be her? Cassidy’s co-stars include Eliza Dushku, Billy Campbell, Michelle Trachtenberg, Garrett Dillahunt and Gina Gershon.

Shadow Runners

“Thor” star Chris Hemsworth will star in the action movie about “a former Navy SEAL who tries to recapture his potential and repair a rift with an old comrade in arms, as he leads a team of elite international operatives on a mission against a mysterious enemy.” Chris Cantwell & Chris Rogers are writing the script for Sony. “Prometheus” star Logan Marshall Green has been cast as Tennessee Williams in a movie that tells of Williams’ friend, Southern gothic novelist Carson McCullers. Jena Malone (“Donnie Darko”) is playing McCullers. (Deadline)

Gina Gershon (“Bound”) and Peter Stormare (“Prison Break”) have replaced Chelsea Handler and Eric Bogosian in Joe Hahn’s thriller about a group of people caught up in the mall shooting spree. Aussie James Frecheville (”Animal Kingdom”) plays the shooter. (Variety)

Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, co-stars of the cult classic “Wet Hot American Summer”, will reunite with director David Wain on a low-budget romantic comedy about an on again/off again relationship. “When Joel (Rudd) and Molly (Poehler) meet, it’s hate at first sight; his big corporation is the one that threatens to shut down her quirky knick-knack store. Story, which follows their predictably on-again/off-again relationship, features rom-com staples such as the jealous ex-girlfriend, the office jerk, scary in-laws, a boring dentist, a wise dog and beautiful shots of New York City in autumn.” (Variety)

Up-and-comer Elizabeth Olsen joins Tom Felton, Jessica Lange, Shirley Henderson, John Kavanagh, Mackenzie Crook and Matt Lucas in an 1860’s set thriller about a woman, played by Olsen, forced into marrying her cousin, who begins a torrid affair with her husband’s friend. (Collider)

The Butler

Cuba Gooding Jr, Matthew McConaughey and Alan Rickman may have small roles in director Lee Daniels next movie. The movie tells of Eugene Allen, who was the Butler at the White House for thirty years or so, and Forest Whitaker, David Oyelowo, and Oprah Winfrey playing the lead roles. John Cusack and Jane Fonda are also in the flick, playing Richard Nixon and Nancy Reagan, respectively. “Harry Potter” favourite Rickman may be playing Ronald Reagan; details on who Gooding Jr and McConaughey are playing aren’t available.
