Casting: The Space Between Us, The Babysitter, Slate, Manganiello, Ifan, Skrein, Grandfathered

Scott Takeda (“Gone Girl”) will join Gary Oldman, Asa Butterfield and Britt Robertson in adventure-romance “The Space Between Us”.

Production is currently underway in Albuquerque with Peter Chelsom directing.

The film centres on a teenager born on Mars who begins an online romance with a girl in Colorado. Takeda will play a doctor.

“The Space Between Us” will release on July 29, 2016.

 

 

Bella Thorne (“The Duff”) has joined the cast of New Line’s horror comedy “The Babysitter”.

Samara Weaving stars in the titular role opposite Judah Lewis, Robbie Amell and Andrew Bachelor.

McG is directing from Brian Duffield’s top-placed Blacklist script about “a 12-year old boy and his babysitter on a night when things take an unexpected turn for the worst” (via Variety).

 

 

Jenny Slate is in talks to join Zachary Quinto in indie drama “Aardvark”, Variety reports.

Brian Shoaf is directing from his own script. production is expected to get underway in December in New York.

 

 

Joe Manganiello will guest star on an upcoming episode of the CBS sitcom “Mom”.

According to EW, he will play Julian, “a newcomer to Alcoholics Anonymous who Christy (Anna Faris) takes under her wing. It’s not so easy for Christy to help him, though, since Julian is so dang hot.”

 

 

Rhys Ifans and Ed Skrein will star in sci-fi thriller “Gateway 6″.

Malachi Smyth penned the script which topped the most recent Brit List (the non-US equivilent of the Black List). Tanel Toomwill make his feature directorial debut on the project.

Set in the future on a war-ravaged Earth, the film follows four soldiers who man the last bastion Gateway 6 — an outpost in a sea-covered continent — awaiting a relief crew or the enemy, whichever comes first. But as the empty weeks turn to months, paranoia descends that tests relationships to breaking point. Especially with the arrival of a deserted boat — was it the help they’d been so anxiously waiting for, or something far more sinister?

 

 

Phil McGraw will guest star on Fox’s “Grandfathered”.

McGraw will play Dr. Bateman, the first doctor Jimmy (John Stamos) has seen in more than 20 years.
