Charlotte Gainsbourg is in talks to join Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher in Fox’s “Independence Day” sequel.
The follow up comes nearly 20 years after the original which starred Will Smith. While he isn’t returning, director Roland Emmerich is coming back to helm with Jeff Goldblum reprising his role as David Levinson. It’s also believed that Bill Pullman may return.
At this stage we don’t have any details on Gainsbourg’s character. We do know, however, that Usher will play Dylan, the son of Will Smith’s Captain Steven Hiller.
Producers are Dean Devlin, Emmerich and Harald Kloser. Production is set to kick off in May.
“Independence Day 2” will hit cinemas on June 24, 2016.
