Chris Pine returns as Kirk for Star Trek 4; Filming begins later this year

The film will be directed by “WandaVision” alum Matt Shakman

Chris Pine and the cast of the previous three “Star Trek” films will return for a long-awaited new instalment in the film franchise, set to begin filming late 2022.

According to Deadline, Pine is in talks to reprise his Captain James T.Kirk along with Zachary Quinto, expected to return as Spock, while Zoe Saldana (Lieutenant Uhura), Karl Urban (Dr. Bones McCoy), John Cho (Sulu) and Simon Pegg (Scotty) will also be back if Pine’s deal comes off.

Matt Shakman is directing the new film, with the latest screenplay penned by Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires. Their current draft was based on Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet’s script.

Paramount Pictures

J.J Abrams, who produced the previous three films (and also directed the first two), will be back again as producer.

Quentin Tarantino’s proposed “Star Trek” film is now apparently off the cards with the “Pulp Fiction” helmer cooling on the idea in recent times, moving onto other projects.
