Paramount+ today announced more of its hit series from Taylor Sheridan, 1883, is planned for the service following a record-breaking performance that shattered the service’s record as the most-watched title ever globally. Additionally, the service has ordered 1932, the next chapter of the “Yellowstone” origin story. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, 1932 will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.

 

Paramount+ today announced that its highly anticipated upcoming series HALO, based on the iconic Xbox franchise, has been renewed for a second season prior to the series’ upcoming launch on Thursday, March 24, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and in all international markets where the streaming service is available. In addition, David Wiener (“Homecoming,” “The Killing,” “Brave New World”) will join the series as showrunner and executive producer for the second season.

 

Paramount+, MTV Entertainment Studios, and MGM’s Orion Television today announced that the original cast of the iconic series “Teen Wolf” will reunite in a full-length movie exclusively for the service. The announcement was made by Chris McCarthy, chief content officer of unscripted entertainment and adult animation, during the ViacomCBS Investors Event, and comes out of the previously announced multi-year deal with MTV Entertainment Studios and writer and producer Jeff Davis, who developed the series.

A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall (Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.

A new NCIS will be produced for Paramount+ Australia and Network 10, and a new SEAL TEAM movie will be produced for the streaming service in the U.S., it was announced today by George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS and chief content officer for news and sports at Paramount+.

For the first time, CBS Studios will expand one of its biggest and most successful global franchises into a new international edition, NCIS: SYDNEY. The series, which is slated for 2023, will feature local stories with Aussie actors and producers and be filmed in one of the world’s most scenic harbor cities. NCIS: LOS ANGELES creator and Australian Shane Brennan is attached.

CBS will also expand the storytelling universe for the hit Paramount+ drama SEAL TEAM, producing a stand-alone movie for the streaming service. The movie will come from the series creative team of David Boreanaz, Christopher Chulack and Spencer Hudnut.

 

Paramount+ today announced that beginning in 2025, it will become the global streaming home for the full catalog of “South Park” episodes, movies, and made-for-streaming movies. Additionally, later this year, “South Park’s” expansive library of episodes will move exclusively in SVOD to Paramount+ in international markets, and beginning with season 27 in 2024, new episodes of the hit franchise will make their streaming debuts exclusively on the service, both in the U.S. and globally.

 

Paramount+ today announced that Academy Award(R) winner Billy Bob Thornton has been tapped to lead the upcoming drama series LAND MAN. From executive producer and Academy Award(R) nominee Taylor Sheridan, the series will feature Thornton as a crisis manager for an oil company. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, LAND MAN will begin production in 2023. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown,” LAND MAN is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West-Texas and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.

 

Paramount+ today announced that Zoe Saldaña is set to star in and executive produce the service’s upcoming drama series LIONESS, from Academy Award(R) nominee Taylor Sheridan. Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman, with her production company, Blossom Films, will join LIONESS as an executive producer. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, the series will begin production in June 2022 with Tom Brady (“NOS4A2,” “Colony”) at the helm as executive producer and showrunner.  LIONESS is based on a real-life CIA program and follows a Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organization down from within.

 

SHOWTIME has picked up a seventh season of its acclaimed drama series BILLIONS, starring Oscar(R) nominee and Emmy(R) winner Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll and Maggie Siff.

 

SHOWTIME has renewed the new anthology series SUPER PUMPED for a second season, to be based on Mike Isaac’s next book, a deep dive into Facebook’s transition from groundbreaking startup to the power it has become. The new season will focus on the relationship at the center of that metamorphosis – between Sheryl Sandberg and Mark Zuckerberg – and the world-changing forces unleashed, intentionally and unintentionally, as a result.

 

Peacock announced today the straight-to-series order of true crime drama A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY from Nick Antosca (The Act, Channel Zero), who will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Antosca, under his production banner Eat the Cat, will produce via his overall deal with UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.  Peacock also announced series stars Anna Paquin (Flack, The Irishman and True Blood), Jake Lacy (The White Lotus, Being the Ricardos), Colin Hanks (The Offer, Impeachment: American Crime Story) and Lio Tipton (The Edge of Sleep, Why Women Kill).

 

Hulu has renewed How I Met Your Father for a 20-episode second season. In the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2022 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. 

 

The Emmy(R) winning dark comedy series BARRY, starring Emmy(R) winner Bill Hader, returns for its eight-episode third season SUNDAY, APRIL 24 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. Alec Berg (HBO’s “Silicon Valley”) and Hader (“Saturday Night Live”) are co-creators, executive producers, directors and writers.

 

HBO’s six-episode first season of THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE debuts this spring. The series will air on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max. HBO has released new images from the drama series. The images include Rose Leslie as Clare Abshire, Theo James as Henry DeTamble, Desmin Borges as Gomez, and Natasha Lopez as Charisse. Logline: An intricate and magical love story, adapted by Steven Moffat from the much loved novel by Audrey Niffenegger and directed by David Nutter, THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE tells the story of Clare and Henry, and a marriage with a problem… time travel.

 

Netflix is partnering with 2K and Take-Two Interactive to produce a live-action film adaptation of the renowned video game franchise “BioShock.”

 

 

HBO Max has revealed the release dates of three of its upcoming movie originals :

  • MOONSHOT will premiere March 31
  • FATHER OF THE BRIDE will premiere June 16
  • HOUSE PARTY will premiere July 28
