Clint says goodbye to Jeff Conaway

I’m crushed about this… very sad. Jeff Conaway, best known as Kenicki from “Grease” (my 3-year-old’s favourite movie… how am I going to break this to her!?), has died aged 60.

Conaway, who a lot of you will also remember as Bobby Wheeler on “Taxi”, had led a very public battle with painkillers, cocaine and alcohol. He had been in a coma as a result of being found unconscious earlier this month. His family decided to take him off life support early Friday.

Career-wise Conaway never really reached the heights of his “Grease” co-star John Travolta – and in some small way, must have harbored a bit of ill-feeling about that… after all, Conaway had played Danny Zuko on Broadway and only because Travolta had a bigger name from “Welcome Back Kotter” was he demoted to the role of Kenicki for the film. Conaway worked steadily over the past three decades, appearing in low-budget fare like “Alien Intruder” and “Bikini Summer II” (which he also wrote and directed) as well as studio fare like “Jawbreaker” and “Dickie Roberts : Former Child Star”, but his troubles off-screen unfortunately overshadowed his recent career.

This is one of his last interviews. Warning : It is a bit sad to watch.

Rest in Peace, Kenicki.
