Before we get into the Bits, I just want to saying ‘cheers’ for hanging in with us this week . I lost a person very dear to me this week, that’ll be forever missed; she was a real guiding light in my life, a very special person. It’s a wound that’s unfortunately going to take time to get over.   • According to a report on Aint it Cool, Ed Zwick [“The Last Samurai”] has taken over directing duties on “The Talisman”.

  • According to News.Com.Au, Holly Valance has had to turn down a part in the top-rating American show “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” because she didn’t have the appropriate visa.

  • DayoftheDeadmovie.net has set pics and info on the sequel to the George Romero classic.

  • William Monahan is in talks to adapt Scott Rudin’s feature film of Cormac McCarthy’s acclaimed novel “Blood Meridian”, which takes place on the Texas/Mexico border and looks at the uncompromising depiction of a crucial junction in American history. Set in the 1840s, the story centers on a young boy who gets in with a gang of outlaws employed by the territorial governors to clear Indians from the Mexican border area.

  • Coming Soon has information on a series of video games being developed for Disney’s 3D movie “Chicken Little”.

  • Arnold Vosloo told SciFi Wire that he expects to be appearing in a third “Mummy” in a couple of year’s time. Stephen Sommers doesn’t seem to know anything about it.

  • New Line Cinema has acquired Cindy McCreery’s comedy script “Soccer Mom” about a mother of two who gets a second chance to go back to college and play on its soccer team, all while balancing her family life.

  • Katie Leung has beaten thousands of young oriental actresses to play the part of Harry Potter’s first girlfriend in “Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire”, reports the IMDB.

  • Michael Madsen tells Filmink magazine that he’d like to play Johnny Cash in a movie. Pity Joaquin Phoenix got in first.

  • Fangoria talked to Guillermo del Toro who revealed his next film will be low budget ghost story “Pan’s Labyrinth”.

  • DVDAnswers has full details on the “Passion of Christ” DVD that’s going to hit stores In August.

  • Guy Pearce told About.Com that the Nick Cave written flick “The Proposition” will start filming in August or September. “He’s doing the music for it and he also wrote the script. John Hillcoat, who’s directing it, wasn’t entirely happy with the writers that he had. In talking with Nick – and he’s known Nick for a number of years – they decided that Nick should have a go at writing the script. And, of course, being the brilliant writer he is, he wrote a brilliant script, so that’s the one we’re going to use”.
